Choose the correct Canton Fair phase

The 140th Canton Fair is split into three product phases. Save the relevant phase and supplier locations offline before the flight.

PhaseDatesMain themesOffline action
Phase 1October 15-19Advanced manufacturing, electronics, machinery, vehicles and energySave the exact hall and booth for every supplier
Phase 2October 23-27Household goods, gifts, decoration, building materials and furnitureGroup meetings by hall before each fair day
Phase 3October 31-November 4Fashion, textiles, food, health, recreation, toys and office suppliesDownload product files and the daily contact list

Confirm your phase and save it offline

The official 2026 overseas buyer guide lists Phase 1 for October 15–19, Phase 2 for October 23–27 and Phase 3 for October 31–November 4 at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou. Product categories change by phase, so a calendar or website failure can send you to Guangzhou on the wrong dates.

Save the official attendance guide, badge details, venue address and the phase for each supplier before the flight. Keep one copy on the phone and another on the laptop or in a non-cloud offline folder.

Build the supplier-contact pack

A booth number in Gmail or a cloud spreadsheet is not an offline plan. Export the day's supplier list with company name, hall, booth, contact person and at least two communication methods. Share the same list with a colleague at home.

  • Supplier name, hall and booth number.
  • Mobile number plus WhatsApp, WeChat or another agreed messaging channel.
  • Meeting time in China Standard Time.
  • Product files or drawings downloaded locally.
  • Hotel name and address in both English and Chinese where available.

Plan for the phone and the laptop separately

A travel eSIM may provide a useful overseas-routed connection on the phone. It does not automatically guarantee hotspot tethering or enough high-speed data for laptop calls and file sync. Read the current plan terms and test the actual laptop.

Hotel Wi-Fi can handle heavier laptop use, but a connected Wi-Fi icon does not guarantee access to Google services or every international work app. Prepare an access layer that can use either underlying connection.

  • Connection A: roaming or a travel eSIM for mobility.
  • Connection B: hotel Wi-Fi for laptop volume and fallback.
  • Access test: Gmail, cloud files, messaging and one real video call.
  • Power: battery pack and the correct plug/adapter for your devices.

Do not confuse Canton Fair Wi-Fi with app access

The official Canton Fair app includes itinerary planning, instant messaging, trade matching and electronic business-card exchange. Those are useful buyer tools, but joining a venue network is not proof that Gmail, Google Drive, WhatsApp or a laptop video call will work through the same connection.

Install the official app and complete its sign-in before departure. Save the buyer badge or registration details, phase schedule and supplier itinerary outside the app as well. At the fair, treat venue Wi-Fi as one underlying connection and keep mobile data ready rather than making either connection a single point of failure.

  • Open the official itinerary and one supplier record before the flight.
  • Screenshot the day plan and keep the supplier list in a local file.
  • Test Gmail, a cloud file, supplier messaging and one short laptop call—not just a speed test.
  • Know which mobile connection to use if the venue network is congested or requires a new sign-in.

Run the 48-hour pre-flight drill

Install and authorize everything while the app store, email and account recovery pages are still normal. Company-managed laptops may require IT approval, so do not leave this to the airport.

  • Send a real email and open a real cloud file.
  • Message the supplier through the channel you agreed to use.
  • Connect the laptop through the phone hotspot.
  • Save all setup and support instructions offline.
  • Write down the fallback contact that does not depend on Gmail.

Keep the fair-day recovery sequence offline

If nothing loads, test the underlying connection first. If local sites load but Gmail or another international service does not, switch the prepared access route. If only one app fails, treat it as an app or account problem before replacing the entire setup.

The printable checklist includes this sequence plus the official venue, buyer portal, overseas call-center number and official email. Keep it outside the inbox or cloud drive that may be unavailable when you need it.

What to do if the hotel connection fails

First determine whether the hotel Wi-Fi itself has internet by opening an accessible site. If nothing loads, switch to mobile data or ask the hotel to fix the connection. If local sites work but the international apps do not, switch the prepared access route. These are different failure modes and need different fixes.

China Internet Pass provides pre-trip setup, alternate access routes and 24/7 China-based connection assistance over a working Wi-Fi or mobile connection. It is not a mobile-data plan and cannot repair a carrier or hotel outage.

Canton Fair connectivity FAQ

When is the 140th Canton Fair?

The official attendance guide lists October 15–19, October 23–27 and October 31–November 4, 2026, in three phases.

Should I rely on venue or hotel Wi-Fi?

Use Wi-Fi as one connection, not the only plan. Keep mobile data available and test access to the exact apps you need.

Should I install the Canton Fair app before arriving?

Yes. Install it, sign in and open the itinerary and buyer tools before departure. The official app includes itinerary planning, instant messaging, trade matching and e-card exchange, but keep the phase schedule and supplier list outside the app too.

Is a travel eSIM enough for a buyer with a laptop?

Only if the plan permits tethering and has enough high-speed data. Confirm those terms and test the laptop before departure.

What must be stored offline?

Fair dates, badge information, venue and hotel addresses, supplier hall/booth details, contact methods, meetings and critical product files.

Where is the 140th Canton Fair held?

The official site lists the China Import and Export Fair Complex at No. 382 Yuejiang Zhong Road, Haizhu District, Guangzhou. Negotiation hours are 9:30-18:00 each fair day.
